Preparing for the Best Buddies Challenge

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - Kayna Whitworth and Adam Williams found a way to train indoors to ride 100 miles for the Best Buddies Challenge Hyannis Port.

They went to Flywheel class to boost their training for a ride to raise money and awareness for the Best Buddies program, which is designed to help those with intellectual disabilities make friends, find jobs, and live full lives.

Lead instructor Christina Lodde leads the class, during which riders can reach 20 miles. But, it's not easy.

Every song Lodde plays has intervals, created to get their heart rate and speed up several times.

"Best Buddies ride is no joke, so you can calculate your miles through each class, which is great for when you are training for outdoor rides like that," Lodde said.

You can also calculate speed and resistance on the Flywheel bikes.

"We have the ability to see the performance throughout the ride, not only on  your bike, but on the torque boards, so it makes for friendly competition," Lodde said.
