Schnauzer thrown from vehicle in Chicopee

Posted: Updated:
CHICOPEE, Mass. (WHDH) - Officers in Chicopee are trying to find the person behind a cruel crime.

Police say a schnauzer was thrown from a moving car and into traffic Wednesday morning.

A witness told Animal Control Officers the car then hit the dog and kept going.

Someone was able to grab the dog before it was hit again, and took it to get help.

“When we first got him here, he was in shock. His mucus membranes were pale so he wasn’t getting any circulation from his heart to the body. His pulse was weak so we immediately gave him some pain medications and gave him IV fluids,” Animal Control said.

Officials say the dog currently has a limp, and veterinarians are concerned that he may have a fractured pelvis.
