City of Gardner sells painting for $2.2 million

GARDNER, Mass. (WHDH) - The City of Gardner will receive nearly $2 million for a Norman Rockwell painting that once hung in the high school principal's office.

The painting is called "Willie Gillis in Convoy". It sold at auction for $2.2 million. Gardner will receive $1.9 million of that.

The city's mayor hopes the money will be used on the schools.
