DA says Hernandez tattoo artist may know about murders

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - Days after Aaron Hernandez was indicted for the 2012 double murder of two men in Boston’s South End, the District Attorney announced a possible lead in the case.

7News first reported that the Suffolk County District Attorney was hoping to speak with the tattoo artist who inked Hernandez’s right forearm between February 2012 and June 2013.

When Hernandez arrived at the Bristol County jail last summer, accused in the murder of Odin Lloyd, officers photographed and scrutinized all of his body art. Bristol County Sheriff Tom Hodgson said nothing indicated Hernandez was part of a gang and that at the time, they were not looking for other meaning behind the tattoos.

Now, the DA said the tattoo artist may have seen or heard something that could help police.

The DA’s office said between those dates, Hernandez traveled to Hermosa Beach, Calif.; Bristol, Conn.; Palm Beach and Miami, Fla.; as well as several areas in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Hernandez has many tattoos on both his arms and the rest of his body, but investigators are focusing on specific tattoos on his right forearm.
