NEWTON, Mass. (WHDH) - A driver of a car involved in a school bus crash in Newton has been arrested, police say.

The 2-vehicle accident occurred at 549 Dedham St. Tuesday morning. According to police, the bus was trying to make a left turn when a car came at the bus. The driver tried to avoid hitting the car and lost control, hitting the stone wall, fence and house on the property.

The 34-year-old driver of the car, who is from Brockton, was arrested for driving without a valid license.

Reports say that no kids were on the bus and nobody was in the home at the time.

The house was damaged but the bus did not enter the structure.

The bus driver is being treated at the scene.

Dedham Street eastbound is shut down as tow trucks remove the bus. Police advise drivers to avoid the area.
