Conn. student gets corsage from VP Biden after prom invites

Posted: Updated:
NEWINGTON, Conn. (WHDH) - A high school student from Connecticut invited Vice President Joe Biden to prom; he couldn’t make it but the vice president didn't ignore the invitation.

Last fall, Talia Maselli invited Biden to her high school prom in Newington, Connecticut.

Telling the VP she was sending the formal invitation so far ahead of time because she was sure her invitation would be one of many.

Although Vice President Biden couldn't make it he sent the student a letter to let her know he was grateful for the invite.

In it, he told the teenager he was flattered, but his schedule wouldn't let him attend.

But he wanted to do something special for the teen.

Along with the letter Mr. Biden also sent a corsage which his office says, he picked out himself.

The corsage, made of baby's breath and white roses, also had red, white and blue ribbons showing a bit of USA pride.

The Vice President's office also is planning for the student to come to the white house to meet with Mr. Biden in July.
