Huge Turnaround

Cool overnight in the suburbs. Cool overnight in the suburbs.

Wow!  What a turnaround throughout the day as a soupy air mass with tropical downpours this morning yielded to sunshine, low humidity and temperatures in the mid 70s for most.  Dew point levels crashed from the 60s to the upper 30s, ushering in that comfortable feel to the air.

With a low humidity air mass in place tonight, clear skies allow for cooler temps as overnight lows fall into the lower 40s in many of the suburbs to the lower to mid 50s in the city of Boston.  If you left your windows open through the day, you may want to shut them before you head to bed, or it'll be mighty chilly in the house by the morning.

By Sunday morning, we'll keep the clearer skies to start, but clouds build a bit late morning, into the afternoon.  While much of the day is dry, I can't rule out a passing shower in a few towns in the afternoon.  The rain chance runs about 20%.  Highs near 70, so it'll be a bit cooler than today, and the low humidity sticks around.

Monday and Tuesday feature more of the same, just a few passing afternoon showers that are hit or miss as highs head into the upper 60s.

A better chance for rain arrives late Wednesday into Thursday.  With winds turning onshore and the rain continuing Thursday, it'll be a raw day with highs stuck in the 50s.

How about late-week, into next weekend?  The system that plagues us Thursday is slow to move east.  However, showers become more hit and miss instead of consistent, by Friday, and winds turn more north to northwest, allowing for highs in the low 60s.  Saturday features more improvements as highs run in the mid 60s to near 70 with just a slight shower risk.  If all goes according to plan, we should be able to build high pressure and dry weather in for Sunday.  Of course, forecasting weather in New England 8 days out means that plan can change, so we'll keep you updated on this.  Just wanted to share an early look at what I'm seeing for the unofficial start of summer.

Have a great Sunday and go Sox!
