BOSTON (WHDH) - MBTA riders at Back Bay station rescued a woman who fell onto the Back Bay station tracks on Tuesday.

Surveillance video shows the woman carrying bags and a drink walk off the edge of the Orange Line platform and tumble onto the tracks.

A witness said that he heard gasps and saw the woman fall. Him and two other men jumped down to rescue her and hoisted her up onto the platform, receiving a thank you from the victim. One of the rescuers said when he saw her, he knew he had to try and help her out even though he was putting his own safety at risk.

The MBTA said the 44-year-old woman was complaining of pain on her right side after the fall and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
