Crooks use suction cups to break into Medley electronics business

Posted: Updated:

MEDLEY, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are looking for several thieves caught on camera using suction cups to get away with some very expensive goods at an electronics business in Medley.

Police called these crooks extremely brazen and crafty. According to Medley Police, on May 10, at around 5:41 a.m., several men could be seen on camera using suction cups to remove part of the business door's glass. Once the glass was off, they were able to reach inside and unlock the door.

"What they do is they cut the actual plastic that holds the window and ... it gives them an opportunity to remove the window just enough to reach inside and open up the front door of the business," explained Medley Police officer Louis Ponce.

The men could then be seen rushing inside the commercial warehouse and running out with several boxes that had Bose speakers inside. "It's extremely brazen. However, we've been seeing a trend in these type of crimes happening," said Ponce.

Three hours later, the men returned to the warehouse and removed more boxes.

Police said the men are responsible for getting away with thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. "The subjects did take approximately $10,000 in merchandise," said Ponce. "They left within five minutes of their first entry. They came back at 8:14 in the morning, and the door was already open. They went into the business, and they picked up more merchandise, electronic merchandise which was Bose entertainment systems."

Police believe there were as many as five men involved in the break-in. They also believe the suspects fled in a dark-colored Nissan. "The importance of catching these guys, we want to prove to the public that this ... that these crimes shouldn't be committed," said Ponce. "Obviously, no crimes against persons or businesses shouldn't be committed, and obviously theses guys are professionals, so they need to go to jail."

If you have any information on this burglary, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
