SALISBURY, Mass. (WHDH) -
Investigators will use new cellphone video as evidence after a domestic dispute ended in a shooting in Salisbury on Thursday.
The video captured an interaction between a man and police officers on Cable Avenue after officers responded to a domestic dispute. A 29-year-old man deliberately crashed his car into a police cruiser and exited his vehicle armed with a knife and a machete.
Police reportedly spent several minutes attempting to get the man to drop the weapons, but when he didn't they opened fire. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
State police and members from the District Attorney's office are reviewing the video for their investigation, but neighbors said they thought police made the right call.
"From what I understand they did everything possible to diffuse the situation and he just wouldn't stop," said one neighbor.
Two stabbing victims were also rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. A male victim was medflighted to Mass. General Hospital and the female victim remains at Anna Jacques Hospital.
