Dog flu discovered in 4 Essex County dogs

IPSWICH, Mass. (WHDH) - The dog flu has been detected in Massachusetts for the first time.

The respiratory illness has been confirmed in four Essex County dogs believed to have been exposed at a facility in Ipswich.

Symptoms include a hacking-type cough, repeated throat clearing, frequent swallowing and lethargy.

Puppies and older dogs already suffering from another illness are reportedly at a higher risk.
