BOSTON (WHDH) -
Dias Kadyrbayev, a friend of accused marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, could take the stand Thursday in an effort to get evidence thrown out.
This will be the first time anyone connected to the bombing will speak publicly in court.
Kadyrbayev claims he was interviewed involuntarily and his apartment was searched illegally. The FBI says it obtained signed consent forms for both.
Lawyers for the three friends spent Wednesday in court trying to get statements thrown out.
The lawyers argued that their clients, Kadyrbayev, Azamat Tazhayakov and Robel Phillipos, didn’t understand questions they were asked and didn’t know what was going on. They said because of that, their admissions of guilt during questioning shouldn't be allowed in court.
Several FBI agents took the stand Tuesday to talk about the questioning of Kadyrbayev and Tazhayakov just hours before Tsarnaev surrendered in Watertown.
Evidence, including surveillance video and photographs of the question was also shown in open court.
The trio is charged with misleading investigators and removing evidence from Tsarnaev’s dorm room at UMASS Dartmouth.
