Homeless man accused of attacking 2 Boston EMTs

BOSTON (WHDH) - A homeless Boston man appeared in court Monday afternoon, accused of assaulting to EMTs.

Prosecutors said Norman Michaud, 58, attacked the first responders when they woke him up on West Broadway Street in South Boston.

“He began to spit and kick at one point he struck both of the EMTs as they were trying to help him. Both of the EMTs were struck several times. After a long struggle the EMTs were able to finally get him under control,” prosecuting attorney William Champlin said.

Michaud’s lawyer said her client has an alcohol problem and needs help.

“He understands they were just doing their job. Of course he understands that, but at the same time he had been drinking, he went to find a place to sleep. He is homeless,” defense attorney Pam Murphy said.

Both EMTs were treated for cuts and bruises.
