Harvard Black Mass canceled due to lack of venue

Posted: Updated:
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WHDH) -

The controversial Black Mass scheduled to take place on campus at Harvard Monday night was canceled after the hosting club could not find a venue for their event.

Hundreds of people turned out at St. Paul's Parish to pray and protest.

The Mass was set to be held at a nearby nightclub, but the club backed out.

The Harvard Crimson reported that the Extension School Club initially made the decision to move the event off-campus because of the “grave misinterpretations about the nature of the event.”

The group said in a statement they were "disappointed by the self-righteousness that conspired to silence others simply because they claim offense."
