BRENTWOOD, N.H. (WHDH) -

Officials are on the scene of a police involved shooting in Brentwood New Hampshire where a house has exploded on Mill Pond Road.

Police were on the scene Monday afternoon when a police officer was shot in the area.

The house is in a 55 and over community that is 5-7 years old according to town officials.

While police were on the scene a fire broke out inside the home, a short time afterward some type of explosion occurred inside the house sending doors and windows flying.

Neighbors say they heard a series of gunshots before the explosion, which they say was extremely loud. Neighbors were initially evacuated from their homes but have now been allowed to return home.

Embers ignited the woods behind the scene but officials say that is not a major concern as the continue to try and douse the flames on this house and prevent it from spreading to neighboring houses.
