PELHAM, N.H. (WHDH) - A man was arrested Sunday morning after a crash in Pelham, N.H. revealed he had been in possession of marijuana.

Zachary Randlett, 21, of Dracut was allegedly traveling on Marsh Road when he fell asleep behind the wheel and crashed head on into a telephone pole at around 7:45 a.m. The impact caused the telephone pole to snap at the base.

Police responded to the scene of the crash and found that Randlett had attempted to discard a duffle bag with marijuana prior to the police arriving.

Randlett has been charged with transportation of drugs, possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute.

He was released on $5,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on June 16.

Marsh Road was closed for a few hours while the telephone pole was replaced.
