Leominster man charged with hit and run, witness intimidation

Posted: Updated:
LEOMINSTER, Mass. (WHDH) - Police in Leominster arrested a man they believe is responsible for running over a bike rider Monday night.

“He would not confess to it, he did not confess to it, he still has not confessed to it. It has it become a forensics case,” Leominster Police Lt. Michael Goldman said.

Daniel Brand, 34, was arrested Friday afternoon. Police say he was following the story and always had an excuse when there was a new development.

"It seems like each time Mr. Brand learned something new about the case he had an explanation for it so he wanted to keep talking," Goldman said.

He faces several charges including witness intimidation and driving to endanger.

Brand reportedly told a witness "you'd better not talk to police, I’m not going to go down for this, after you talk to the police I’ll be back."

The 16-year-old victim returned home from the hospital Thursday with two broken legs.

Brand is being held on $50,000 bail and is expected to appear in court Monday.
