STREAM: ISS HD Earth viewing experiment

Posted: Updated:
NASA has launched a live feed from the International Space Station that shows a high-definition video of Earth.

The High Definition Earth Viewing experiment was activated on April 30. Several commercial HD video cameras have been established on the ISS, aimed at Earth. Video is transmitted back to Earth and streamed live.

The streaming page warns viewers that there are periods of darkness, since that's when the ISS is over an area of the planet in nighttime.

The experiment will be conducted to "assess the effects of the space environment on the equipment."

Watch the live stream here.
