Drone parts destined for Scituate end up in New York

Posted: Updated:
SCITUATE, Mass. (WHDH) - A Marine Sanctuary in Scituate was awaiting a shipment of drone parts, most of them came but one box was missing.

The drone is going to be used for research, but without a box containing wing, tail and controller parts they were grounded.

Then UPS called and said the college student who had received the missing package wanted to send it to the appropriate destination.

"What we suspect was that a label from a package bound for him got dislodged and attached itself to this package,” A UPS Representative said.

The drone is worth around $350,000 but somehow the missing box got delivered with the student's weightlifting equipment to New York.

"I think it’s a good thing he called, a lot of kids might not have so it’s good for him,” one woman said.

The package is now on the way to Scituate and workers at the sanctuary said they expect to have it by the end of the week.
