40,000 walk in Project Bread Walk for Hunger

BOSTON (WHDH) - Big crowds pounded the pavement in Boston at the 46th annual Walk for Hunger on Sunday.

40,000 walkers were expected to do their part to raise money for Project Bread, which is an organization that works to end hunger.

The 7News team was at the starting line cheering on walkers.

The 20-mile walk began on Boston Common and led participants through Boston, Brookline, Newton, Watertown and Cambridge.

In total, the event raised at least $3.5 million for local food pantries. According to the Project Bread website, the organization has raised more than $100 million over 45 years.
