Fitchburg girl raises money for Jeremiah Oliver's funeral

Posted: Updated:
FITCHBURG, Mass. (WHDH) - A fourth grader in Fitchburg raised her voice for the family of Jeremiah Oliver. She wrote a song and has been selling the CD for proceeds to fund Oliver's funeral.

Mariah O'Neill was so moved by the story of what happened to Oliver that she decided she needed to do something to help.

O'Neill wrote a song in memory of the 5-year-old whose body was found in Sterling two weeks ago, after he was last seen in September 2013.

"I wanted a positive idea instead of everybody being so sad about the case," O'Neill said.

She has been selling the CD with 100 percent of the proceeds going to fund Oliver's funeral.

"I felt like I needed to help out instead of watching on the news everything that's happened to him," she said.

Her mother said the response has been incredible.

"It is amazing. Just how much work she put into it and how many people have reacted to it and how much money she raised," said Tyann Ramos.

Those interested in purchasing a CD can email O'Neill and her family at

O'Neill said if she is still raising funds after the funeral, that money will go to a trust fund to help Oliver's brothers and sisters.
