Uxbridge man carves 9-foot wooden Bruins mascot

Posted: Updated:
UXBRIDGE, Mass. (WHDH) - A Bruins fan put true team spirit on display in Uxbridge, taking on a challenge and turning it into a show of support for the B's and making a nine-foot log into the team's mascot.

Michael Basiner carved the nine-foot bear for a friend.

"He said, 'I can carve anything,' and I was like, 'can you carve me a bear?' He was like, 'sure.' 'A really big bear? Wearing a Bruins jersey?" said Jeff Gray.

Basiner said he still had a few more things to do before the bear is finished.

"People's reactions are very important. The woodcarving, it makes me feel good," Basiner said.

Gray said he was building an entertainment area off of his home where he would display the bear.

"I'm going to have a big TV on the outside of the garage so we can watch the Bruins games," he said.

They were hoping the bear would bring good luck.

If the Bruins win the Stanley Cup, Basiner said he would add a trophy right in front of the bear, and he hopes the team will get there picture there as well.
