A Bruins fan in Uxbridge is putting his pride on display in a big way.
A 9-foot tall log has turned in to a giant Bruins statue wearing a jersey.
"My dad was a Bruins fan. Since I was a little kid he’d listen to the radio and scream at the Bruins,” Michael Basiner said.
He started carving his own furniture when he was a kid, but this bear was all carved for a friend.
"He's like ‘I can carve anything.’ I said ‘can you carve me a bear?’ He said ‘sure,’ ‘a really big bear wearing a Bruins jersey?’ ‘Oh yeah,’ ‘holding a hockey stick?’ He's like ‘oh yeah,’” Jeff Gray said.
Gray said he knew Basiner was good at woodworking, but his wife had worries.
"I expected it to be great, but my wife, when I told her about it, said she didn't expect it to be that great until she saw it,” Gray said.
Basiner said he still has a few more things to do before it's finished.
"People's reactions are important to a wood carver and an artist, it makes me feel good,” he said.
Gray and Basiner hope the bear will bring the Bruins good luck during their Stanley Cup playoffs run.
"This is one of the best teams we've had in years so I’m hoping they go all the way,” Basiner said.
If the Bruins win the Stanley Cup Basiner is going to carve a trophy, he hopes the team will come and take a picture with it.
