Man arrested after attempted break-in at liquor store

PLAINVILLE, Mass. (WHDH) - A Plainville man has been charged with breaking and entering after trying to get into a liquor store Sunday evening.

A police officer was conducting a building check at the South Liquor Mart on South Street at around 10:15 p.m. when he spotted a male leaving the area on a bicycle.

The officer detained him for further investigation, which revealed that a door had been pried open at the store. The search of the suspect revealed a pocketknife, flashlight, pry bar and screwdriver.

Nothing had been taken from the store.

The man, identified as Michael May, 28, was charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, possession of burglarious tools and malicious destruction of property.

He was held on $2,500 bail and was expected to be arraigned in Wrentham District Court on Monday.
