Boston City Hall floor buckles

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - Tiles on the second floor of Boston City Hall buckled on Wednesday.

The Mayor's office was alerted Wednesday afternoon by property management that tiles on the mezzanine had lifted. The tiles popped up and zipped down a line.

Crews are currently working to remove the loose tiles. Wednesday night they will put plywood down and cover it with a rug. Then they'll replace the tiles that are still viable.

A spokesperson from the Mayor's office said that there were no expansion joints where the tiles were. They weren't needed when City Hall was built.

The City Hall floor has rippled three other times. In all other incidents, the building was deemed structurally sound.
