PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WHDH) - A Pittsburgh couple was determined not to let anything get in the way of their happily ever after. Not even a medical emergency.

Mary Alice and Robert Adams’ love story is unique.

The couple didn't start dating until a year and a half ago. Their wedding was Friday.

“At our age I didn't want anything real fancy,” Mary Alice said.

But Mary Alice could tell something was wrong with her groom.

“I got in the car. I thought it was anxieties and next thing I know I was having a medical problem,” Robert said.

The groom was having heart problems so ems. Crews responded to the wedding.

“He wanted it to continue. And I explained to him he needed to get up to the hospital to be seen,” Rob Leuthold, an EMT, said.

Their quick action kept Robert alive until they got to the. Rooms. Once there nurses made Mary Alice a bouquet. The wedding was back on.

“I’m glad. I'm glad he is ok. It will be memorable for the rest of my life. And his I hope,” the bride said.

The couple hopes to honey moon in Las Vegas once Robert is released from the hospital.
