Weymouth man held in England for attempted murder

WEYMOUTH, Mass. (WHDH) - Police said a Weymouth man flew thousands of miles and allegedly stabbed a woman with whom he had an online relationship.

The 19-year-old was locked up in London and accused of attempted murder. Police believed he met the woman in an online gaming community.

Weymouth police executed a search warrant at the man's home at the request of police in England. Their report said the man developed a relationship with an 18-year-old girl through online video games.

The man flew from Boston to London on April 16 and investigators said he broke into the girl's home in the town of Epson and stabbed her and her brother.

The brother fought back with an iron bar.

Neighbors of the 19-year-old man were concerned after hearing the news.

"It's scary to think that you live near someone that could do something that terrible to another person," said Sharon Harrison, a neighbor.

Police found black zip ties and a knife inside the man's home.

The man is locked up in London in a secure hospital and is being held on a high bail.
