PAWS Act moving through Beacon Hill after Puppy Doe incident

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - A new bill is making its way through Beacon Hill after a dog was found, beaten and abandoned.

The dog, known as Puppy Doe, had to be put down.

The man accused of abusing the puppy faces animal cruelty charges.

The "Protecting Animal Welfare and Safety" or PAWS Act would expand the penalties for those charges.

Officials found Puppy Doe barely alive, starved and beaten in a Quincy park back in September.

Vets had to euthanize the young pit bull because her injuries were too severe.
