BEVERLY, Mass. (WHDH) -
A yellow lab was found dangerously close to a highway and taken to safety.
"He was on a 15-foot stretch of grass. My step-mom said she pulled up, saw him, she happened to have a leash because she has dogs. She jumped out, put a leash on him, and he jumped right in her car," said Colleen Kelley of Sweet Paws Rescue.
Kelley put out word, hoping to reunite the dog with his owner.
"It can save your dog's life having a microchip or a collar. Put a collar on your dog," said Cynthia Sweet, who also works with Sweet Paws.
The dog, who has been dubbed "Magoo," was placed in a foster home. They fear he may have been dumped on the side of the road because he is older and in need of care.
"He looks so sad, I felt so bad. I sent them an email and said, 'we'll take him and foster him and keep him if his owners don't turn up," said Melanie Collett.
Anyone with information about who this dog might belong to can contact Sweet Paws through their Facebook page.
