Worcester fire damages triple-decker home

Posted: Updated:
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - Families are safe after firefighters in Worcester battled flames in a triple-decker home on Thursday and managed to get things under control.

The three-alarm fire broke out and spread quickly, as winds carried the flames to an adjoining building.

Crews were working with National Grid because they were worried about a transformer nearby possibly catching fire as well.

They had to cut power to the neighborhood to work in the area.

Fifteen people were displaced from the fire, and firefighters had to go back into the building to rescue a dog that was in its crate inside.

Firefighters are working to determine a cause of the fire, and the Red Cross has responded to the area.
