Clinton urges women to run for office

Posted: Updated:

The Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton urged women to run for office while speaking at a leadership conference for Simmons College.

“There are only 18 percent women in the House of Representatives, 20 percent in the Senate, including your great Senator Elizabeth Warren who has joined the women of the senate," Clinton said.

Clinton offered praise to Senator Warren, a woman some people believe could be her rival in the 2016 presidential race.

Clinton declined to comment on her own political future, but she did share an experience she had on a campaign trail in the granite state back in 2008.

“I have to confess, I was quite surprised when we were in New Hampshire during the primary and these young men jumped up in the middle of one of my events with these big signs that said 'iron my shirt.' Iron it yourself, right?” She said.

Clinton also drew on her experience as Secretary of State, listing her biggest regret as the deadly 2012 attack on the US consulate in Benghazi.
