If you were lucky enough to escape the winter without getting the flu you’re not out of the woods yet.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports a second wave of influenza is on the rise; especially in the Northeast and some Mid-Atlantic states.

This time it’s influenza-b, which is different from the strains that spread earlier in the flu season.

While experts say it’s not uncommon to see a surge in flu during the spring months some New England states are reporting more cases now than they did in December and January.

The CDC says the second wave of flu typically drops off in May, but it really never goes away.
