A Medford man appeared in Attleboro District Court Tuesday accused of trying to lure young girls online and through texts.
Police arrested Peter Campobasso, 30, on April 18 after a search of his house.
Reports indicate the man knew he was talking to girls as young as 12-years-old and trying to get them to send him naked pictures.
“Some of the texts include ‘send nude pics please’ the victim indicated ‘I don’t send nudes, I’m 12’ the response was ‘for me? I’ll pay $500,’” Prosecuting Attorney Derek Coyne said.
Campobasso also tried offering the girl Justin Bieber concert tickets, but the girl declined and stated she would call the police.
Court papers said she responded to Campobasso's text messages, by writing, "…There's no way I would do that...One, I'm twelve and I don't talk to pervs. Two, I would only send my nudes to Justin Bieber. Ha Ha."
There’s no evidence that that girl ever sent the man images. Her text responses indicate she found the man’s interest disturbing.
"Campobasso is believed to have befriended many young girls in the Mansfield/Attleboro area via Facebook and Social Media,” a statement from the Mansfield Police Department said.
A 15-year-old victim said Campobasso tried to meet up with her for sex at a hotel in Foxborough.
Investigators are following up with the other phone numbers and text messages they found in the phone they confiscated. They said Campobasso could face more charges in the future.
