Memorial for Jeremiah Oliver burns down

Posted: Updated:
STERLING, Mass. (WHDH) -

Fire damaged a makeshift memorial for a missing Fitchburg boy.

The Sentinel and Enterprise reported flames broke out early Monday morning.

Officials said the candles were to blame. Organizers have asked they no longer be left at site.

Jeremiah Oliver's body was found on the side of interstate-190 in Sterling last week.

Three DCF workers were recently fired for mishandling the case. Gov. Deval Patrick said the case still has his attention, and that he wants the case prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Social workers will held a protest in Lowell Tuesday calling for change.
