Andover brush fire delays trains

Posted: Updated:
ANDOVER, Mass. (WHDH) - The Haverhill commuter rail line was delayed on Monday after a fire spread to nearby woods in Andover.

Fire officials say that the fire started on one of the train's rail cars, but then spread to the tires and then to the brush near Lowell Junction Rd. and Gillette Way.

It's still unclear as to how the fire started. No injuries have been reported.

The 12:20 p.m. Haverhill train from North Station was delayed about 15 to 30 minutes due to the fire.

Crews will remain on the scene throughout the evening to watch out for hotspots.
