Marathon spectators pack streets, cheer runners

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - Spectators came from all over to cheer on the runners and pack the sidewalks in this year's Boston Marathon.

People were packed on Boylston St. about five or six people deep and it was all to catch a glimpse of the Marathon and to prove a point and create a positive atmosphere.

"Don't let things like this get in your way. There is always a sense perseverance in Boston and we'll come back stronger than ever. They are anticipating a million people in this crowd today. They can't beat it," said one spectator.

"We don't really care what happened last year. We're Boston, we are strong and this race is going to be better than it was before," Kelly Driscoll, another spectator said.

Parents brought their children along to cheer as well. Chris Bowley's wife was running the marathon last year and chose to run again.

"My wife wanted to do it again she was able to run the race from the start be able and then enjoy the city afterwards," Bowley said.
