Runners attend pasta party on eve of Boston Marathon

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - The Boston Marathon pre-race pasta party kicked off Sunday evening with runners taking advantage of the occasion to load up on carbohydrates, but also to celebrate before running the 26.2-mile course on Monday.

"I'm looking forward to running tomorrow...this will  probably be one of my best races because of all the encouragement," said Leo Rosales.

At City Hall, a fast-moving line of several hundred runners and their families stretched around the building, where race organizers served a pre-race pasta dinner hosted by the Boston Athletics Association.

"The people here are awesome, the expo is fabulous, the dinner here has been great," said Krista Mitchell.

Many runners are here because it has been their dream to run the Boston Marathon, but admit after last year's bombing this year was special.

"You can feel the vibe, you can feel people are paying respect. It's going to be very special," said Cendrix Bouchard.

Preparing for Monday's race has been emotional, said Justin Jackson of Chicago. While it had not initially occurred to him to be nervous about another terrorist attack, a bomb scare on Tuesday night "regenerated the worry that there might be crazy people out there."

"So many of us are running this year because of that day," Jackson said.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
