State Police mobile command post updated for marathon

Posted: Updated:
HOPKINTON, Mass. (WHDH) - Friday the Massachusetts State Police showed 7News around inside the command center being set up for the 118th annual Boston Marathon.

Command Post One, as it is called, was also the base of operations for the manhunt for the bombers last year.

The mobile command center will be located at the starting line for this year's race.

Since last year the post has undergone major technological advances.

“I have never seen technology like this. This is cutting edge, and it's there, and it's really going to help us keep everyone safe. The biggest message out there is if you see something, say something. No matter how minute you think it is, we're ready to handle any calls,” Mass. State Police Chief Edward Lee said.

The command center also has video downlink capabilities, which is how commanders saw the infrared images of the surviving bombing suspect in the boat last year.
