SALEM, N.H. (WHDH) -
One man was arrested and another is still on the run after a safe burglary in Salem, N.H.
Police responded to a residence on Monday where a safe with a reportedly large amount of money was stolen. The safe's contents were estimated at $210,000 in cash.
Three men were seen loitering in the area the day before. They supposedly fled the scene in a dark-colored Kia.
After a person of interest was identified, police went to a previous address of Shawn Russell in Methuen, where they found a vehicle matching the description and the safe, which had been forced open. All the money had been removed.
Two suspects were identified as Shawn Russell, 30, and Michael Meucci, 31, of Salem. Police were able to catch up with Russell at a Market Basket. Russell was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
He was found to be in possession of over $40,000 in cash and 42 grams of heroin and was a fugitive from justice out of New Hampshire.
Police are still on the lookout for Michael Meucci, who has made threats that he will not go back to jail and will "shoot it out with police if necessary." He is considered armed and dangerous.
Police are also looking for information regarding other suspects in the case.
