Taunton Little League pitcher throws perfect game

Posted: Updated:
TAUNTON, Mass. (WHDH) - Eighteen batters stepped up to the plate to face Taunton West Little Leaguer Noah Leonard and all of them went right back to the bench.

Noah threw a perfect game on Monday and better yet all 18 outs were strikeouts.

"I just threw all fastballs,” Noah said.

The 12-year-old was throwing to catcher Sean Bunker, who said he didn’t even realize what was happening until the last inning.

"I didn't even realize that he was throwing a perfect game until the last two batters,” Sean said.

Sean wouldn’t have known unless he was keeping track himself, an unwritten rule of baseball is to not talk about a perfect game.

"Like any manager I wasn't going to jinx it, I kept my mouth shut,” team manager Kevin Gobin said.

Even Noah’s father was ritualistic about the game.

"I'm very superstitious, I had to lean on the same fence every inning,” Billy Leonard said.

This is the first time in 28 years a Taunton Little League player has thrown a perfect game.
