Puppy rescued after found in Lawrence trash bin

Posted: Updated:
LAWRENCE, Mass. (WHDH) - A puppy in Lawrence is getting a second chance at life.

An animal control officer found five-week-old Oscar in a trash bin Tuesday night. The little Chihuahua had an injury on the side of his head but he is expected to be okay.

The dog is small enough to fit in the palm of a hand and is likely too young to have been separated from its mother.

The MSPCA said because Oscar is so young, he will be placed in foster care for several months before being put up for adoption.

The Lawrence animal control officer is handling the investigation. They are looking for any leads in the case.
