New England experiences some winter weather in April

Posted: Updated:
NATICK, Mass. (WHDH) -

It’s mid-April and a big swing in temperatures made for a slushy commute, and some people even saw snow Wednesday morning.

7’s Nicole Oliverio was live in Natick to update you on the wild weather from across the region.

In Natick, there was a light snowfall coating the ground, but on the Mass Pike, a mix of rain and wet snow brought a slushy commute.

In Worcester, below freezing temperatures brought a lot of snow in the morning. On Monday, it was in the 70s. Wednesday it snows.

Vermont experienced some flooding problems. Two men and a police officer rushed to get a truck out of rising waters in Montgomery, just north of Burlington. They had to break the window to safely get the woman out of the truck.

This change in temperature comes a day after strong winds ravaged the region. In Chelsea on Tuesday two utility poles with transformers on them came crashing down. Central Avenue had to be closed while crews worked to repair the poles.

Back in Natick, the snow has stopped, but plows and sanders are still working to clear the slush and make the roads safer.

7’s Nicole Oliverio cautions commuters to plan for extra time Wednesday morning when traveling to work.
