Winds cause several power outages across Mass.

Posted: Updated:
CHELSEA, Mass. (WHDH) - Winds gusting near 60 m.p.h. caused several power outages across the state Tuesday.

In Winchester a downed utility pole backed up traffic on Mystic Valley Parkway for a time before it was cleared.

A tree in Braintree was knocked over and that also took power lines with it.

The worst was in Chelsea where two utility poles, each carrying a transformer, came toppling down.

"I heard a big boom, it sounded like something exploded,” Ashley Simmons said.

Central Avenue was blocked for most of the day as crews worked to clean up and replace the poles.
