Two dead after bucket truck accident in Bourne

Posted: Updated:
BOURNE, Mass. (WHDH) - Two workers are dead after a bucket truck tipped over in Bourne on Saturday.

The two men were working on some electrical power lines when something went wrong. They fell about 150 feet from the air to the ground and then about an additional 50 feet below.

34-year-old John Loughran of Quincy was one of the victims and his father was on the scene.

"I lost my son today and I love him. He was at the top of that tower. And he loved line work. He loved being a utility worker. And he was doing exactly what he wanted to be today. He couldn't have been happier," said the victim's father, also named John Loughran.

The other victim was identified as Joseph L. Boyd III, of Fall River.

The electrical company is based out of East Boston.

Police Chief Dennis Woodside  said it was not particularly windy at the time of the accident and the ground under the truck appeared to be solid.

The Office of Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
