Fall River, Mass. (WHDH) -
Two associates of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez have been indicted on murder charges in connection with the shooting of a man last summer near Hernandez's North Attleboro home.
The Bristol County district attorney's office said Friday a grand jury returned indictments against Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace in connection with the killing of semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd.
“Whenever you have three guys all tried for the same thing and it’s a question of who did it and you don’t have an eyewitness or a videotape, always they all point the finger at each other; they'll say ‘he did it, I don't know anything about it,’” 7News legal expert Tom Hoopes said.
Hoopes said having the other men involved doesn't weaken the charges against Hernandez.
“I don't think it helps Hernandez to have anyone else on trial his best shot is by himself,” Hoopes said.
Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to murder in the June killing of Lloyd, a Boston man who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee.
The district attorney's office says Ortiz and Wallace will be arraigned later.
They are both from Bristol, Conn. and were charged previously with accessory to murder after the fact and for which they have pleaded not guilty.
Ortiz's lawyer said he hasn't seen the indictment but calls it "totally ridiculous."
