DUXBURY, Mass. (WHDH) - A Duxbury man in his 50's was rescued by paramedics Friday afternoon after becoming pinned beneath a 600 pound tree for more than an hour.

The man was cutting down a tree with a friend when it fell on top of him. Rescue officials say the man is lucky to be alive.

“This man was literally underneath a huge limb and a whole ton of brush surrounding him. So, you know, lord knows.” said one first responder.

The victim was alert and talking with first responders. A small blue inflatable pad was used to keep the tree from crushing the man.

“We have what we consider to be the golden hour of trauma and our goal is to get someone to a trauma center within that hour.” said one paramedic.

The victim was flown to a Boston hospital and expected to survive his injuries.
