Scott Brown announces Senate campaign in N.H.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (WHDH) - Former Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown may be taking his campaign north, but he's still relying on some of his old tricks with a bit of a twist.

"I'm pretty proud of that old GMC Canyon, it's got almost 300 thousand miles on the odometer and it's sure looking good with those license plates that say Live Free or Die,” Brown said.

Thursday Brown officially told a packed house in Portsmouth, New Hampshire what many had assumed for months.

"Starting today I am a candidate for the United States Senate for the state of New Hampshire,” he said.

While Brown spent plenty of time promoting conservative values like smaller government and limited spending, he focused a lot of his attention on ‘Obamacare.’

"As you go on and you learn more and more and more about ‘Obamacare,’ they're forcing us to make a choice. Live Free or log on," he said.
There was also large portion of his speech dedicated to connecting with New Hampshire voters.

"I was born in the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.” And, “I am running to be a true independent voice for the people of New Hampshire."

After his speech he denounced any notion that his recent move to the Granite State after a career in Massachusetts politics would hurt his candidacy.

"When I'm traveling around no one's asking me where I'm from, they're asking me about how we're going to get rid of ‘Obamacare’" Brown said.
