Former private investigator accused of stalking

Posted: Updated:

A former corrections officer turned private detective is facing stalking charges in Boston.

Prosecutors say 53-year-old Joseph Allen of Scituate stalked at least four people and left them harassing voicemails.

“There is a comment in a thread over the phone stating that the caller was going to get the victim that he should die,” prosecuting attorney Nicholas Walsh said.

Court papers say they phone calls started more than a year ago and there are records of at least 92 calls.

The victims are current and former employees of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s department.

Allen pleaded not guilty to the charges in court.

“He’s doing fine. He has a $2,000 bail, he’s going to post that bail and he’s going to come back and deal with the charges before him. He denies the charges at this time and that’s all he’s going to say,” defense attorney Kevin Greenhalgh said.

Prosecutors say they expect Allen to face more charges in other jurisdictions as the case progresses.
