Pedestrian struck by car in Charlestown

Posted: Updated:
CHARLESTOWN, Mass. (WHDH) - A pedestrian was hit by a car in Charlestown and rushed to a Boston hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.

Witnesses said the car hit the elderly man as he was crossing the street near a rotary.

Tuesday's incident came on the heels of an accident in the same neighborhood, where a cyclist was struck and killed last week.

"They should do something about it. I mean, it's ridiculous. People shouldn't be getting killed. I mean, no lights, you know," said Carol Hancock, a passing pedestrian.

Hancock said she found it hard to walk in the area.

The neighborhood is also frequented by Bunker Hill Community College students, some who also said the area is difficult to navigate. One instructor at the community college said there had been a number of close calls with students.
