Wife of Charlestown hit and run victim speaks out

CHARLESTOWN, Mass. (WHDH) - The wife of a hit and run victim spoke out about the loss of her husband.

Last week, 31-year-old Owen McGrory was killed while riding his bike near Sullivan Square in Charlestown. Police said a garbage truck hit him and then took off.

"I loved my husband. He did not deserve to die this way," she said.

At home in Chelsea, his wife waited for him to return from his bike ride.

"The moment the lady told me the color of the bike, I knew it was my husband," his wife said.

Police said 41-year-old Ricky Prezioso was driving the garbage truck, and allegedly told investigators he thought he hit a pot hole.

"That's not a good enough answer for me. I'm not agreeing with that," she said.

Prezioso was arraigned last week on charges of leaving the scene of a deadly crash.

"All I need is justice to be served. For my whole entire family, we are all mourning and I just need justice to be done," she said.
